From the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music website: "ABRSM’s Music Theory exams aim to give students a thorough understanding of the building blocks of music, starting with the basics of rhythm and notes, and going on to cover harmony and counterpoint, composition, and a broad knowledge of western music, including composers and their works, structure, style and period." From https://us.abrsm.org/en/our-exams/music-theory-exams/

Some students want to learn more about music theory. They want to learn about harmony and composition. They really want to get into the academic side and understand why certain notes, played together, work in a certain way, and makes you feel a certain feeling. For these students I encourage taking the ABRSM Music Theory syllabus.
